I have a 4000W Onan onboard generator on my 1997 Shasta travel master RV that I finally got up and running but it surges and won't stay running. I drove 6 hours to new jersey to go pick this generator up and finally got it installed into the RV after repairing all the stuff listed below.
I turned the governor screw a bit and the altitude screw on carburetor quarter turn to the left but it wont stay on. I do not know how to get it running for longer than a minute, it dies before I can jump into cabin to put it on a load, and don't know how to adjust governor to 60-61 HZ. Will pay for parts and labor. I have watched ALL the videos on youtube, read hundreds of pages on forums, called all small engine repair places in the area but I cannot pay for 300 dollars an hour to get it fixed by them. I am willing to learn and help and pay.
Just changed:
Starter
Fuel Pump and Filter
Fuel Line/line to gas tank
Carburetor (cleaned and took apart the old one but I have a new one too that has yet to be installed)
Oil level checked and leveled properly (dip stick can be unreliable)
House batteries have 12.4 V
All positive and neutral battery terminals replaced.
