Weekend Bookstore Associate, Roundabout Books
Roundabout Books is seeking a bookstore associate to be a part of our dedicated bookstore team. Roundabout is an off-the-beaten-path used bookstore and warehouse. Most days we process hundreds of books in our warehouse for local business, book fairs, and online sale. Our environment is quiet and fast-paced. Our team is highly-focused, good-humored, and respectful, with a strong sense of artisanship. We would value finding someone who was equally ready to bring her or his focused, efficient work each day, and especially someone who found satisfaction in working to make our bookstore into something more and more wonderful.

As our warehouse has developed, we have needed our full time staff together at the store during the Monday through Friday work week. However, weekend customers have discovered our store! We would, therefore, deeply value having an excellent associate helping our store to run well on Saturday and Sunday. Many weekend days are quiet, but some days we have a number of browsers. We also hold giant monthly CD sales, which draw a large number of devoted customers. Always, there are production jobs such as shipping and data entry that you would be able to support.

Ideally, for this job, you would love books and enjoy creating a welcoming environment for our weekend customers. You would also be comfortable our large sales, efficiently setting up and adapting to meet the demands of a busy store. For this weekend position, which is largely independent, conscientiousness in finding useful jobs and helping wherever possible would also be noticed and valued. This position differs from our full-time production jobs, in that it is harder to count on having devoted time for store tasks. Your day is likely to involve regular customer service demands. Yet, as a production facility, we count on being able to make progress on production tasks during the weekend. It would be wonderful to have someone who enjoyed the busy, yet quiet, environment that we have, and who could support our team in productive ways on the weekend. If you enjoy finding these small, but consequential ways to help out our team, we would really be delighted and grateful to have you.

Roundabout supports Massachusetts's anti-discrimination laws. Such laws support real Democracy. If you are the best candidate, we want you.

The weekend associate position is a part-time, 10-15 hour/ week, non-exempt position.

Kindly submit your résumé and a cover letter to Roundabout Books, 26 Kenwood St. Greenfield MA 01301. We prefer to receive résumés and cover letters by email; kindly use the same norms you would use for printed application materials, sending both the résumé and cover letter as an attachment.
