I just moved here from California, used to live in Worthington from '81-'88 as a young whipper-snapper (I was 8 years old when my family and I moved away).
I play keys, bass, and some drums. Been playing keys the longest, about 18 years, bass on and off for about 10. As a drummer I'm an amateur looking to take lessons soon (once I buy a kit), though I've had lessons and played in (mediocre) bands in the past as a drummer (had to sell my old kit before I moved out here). I'm an average singer and still haven't figured out how to coordinate singing and playing simultaneously.
I like all music except for metal (excluding Metallica), pop country, rap, and R&B. Otherwise I like everything from electronica to punk to New Wave to prog to classic rock to classical music to reggae to grunge to funk and soul, you name it. My favorite bands are Pink Floyd, Zappa, 70's Genesis and early Phish (not digging the post-hiatus stuff so much). I like the Dead a lot too but I am tired of playing their music, so no GD cover bands please.
I am 39 and terrified to turn 40 next May. I currently live with my parents and have no career, so by society's standards I'm kind of a loser, hope that isn't a dealbreaker (that's what I get for trying to make a living in music without being a songwriting genius, I guess).
I have a handful of songs I would love to play live for an audience someday, I will play your songs too if I like them (or the right covers if I like them too). I prefer to play originals but am flexible. Attached is my picture.
I have a few keyboards (all Rolands, an XV-88, Fantom 7, and an analog modeling synth I can't remember the name of atm.) I also have a Fender P-bass and amps for both the keyboards and bass.
Please respond with an audio or video clip of you playing, either solo or in a band. Here are some song fragments I've saved over the years, unfortunately I haven't finished them and I'm also not great at mixing them either.
