One-Hundred-year-old (+/-) finely made CELLO, most likely of German manufacture (no label or other markings). Excellent condition for its age; suitable for a beginner, or an advanced or professional player. Not presently set up - sound post is awaiting re-positioning and the four still-good strings are slacked [this cello has been in climate-appropriate storage for several years]. All appointments are original, including ebony pegs, ebony nut, ebony fingerboard, ebony tailpiece, ebony saddle, and brass-tipped end pin. Finely carved pegbox and scroll. Original and well-aged finish. Carved spruce top and highly-figured two-piece maple back. Especially fine double-black-line purfling at edges of both top and back. Very old/stable repair to heel, and one tight and stable hairline on top. Comes in its ancient original soft canvas, plush-lined bag/case.
This cello will be an excellent player for years to come . . . and is certainly a better value than any Chinese-made Eastman, or the like, at more than four times the price!
