This ukulele (which uses a cigar box as the body) was purchased several years ago from the builder (for $150 plus $20 shipping). It works as a musical instrument, and/or as a wall-hanger or conversation piece. The cigar-box sound is not as full as a "normal" ukulele can be, but a normal uke is not as distinctive-looking as a cigar box model.
Here is the information (from the builder/original seller) for the uke:
“Fully playable, tenor ukulele set up on this Cigar Box that maintains its original ability to open and close the box lid. The cigar box is a vintage "Thunder by Nimish", with the original artwork viewable on the box lid and on the inside of the ukulele. Opening the lid allows you to see the red spruce braces on the soundboard, and the original cigar box art work on the back of the instrument (also visible through the soundhole. This cigar box ukulele comes equipped with a handcarved full sized tenor. It has white Grover geared tuners with a 14:1 ratio, rosewood family fretboard and bridge. Professionally fretted and set up for best sound and smooth playing experience.”
