A 2008 CABLE-NELSON CN116, PROFESSIONAL STUDIO UPRIGHT PIANO, 45" tall.
DESIGNED AND BUILT BY YAMAHA IN CHINA, AND SOLD EXCLUSIVELY BY YAMAHA DEALERS.
Polished ebony finish and matching bench. Although it's only 2" taller than an average Yamaha console upright, this is a better grade of instrument in many respects. Excellent tone. The bass strings are actually longer than those on a Yamaha baby grand, so the depth and power of the bass notes is surprisingly good for its size. Very consistent, moderate playing action. This was made in China with mainly Japanese components. It's identical internally to the Chinese-made Yamaha P22 professional studio upright, but has a less expensive cabinet, and a different style. The CN116 was replaced by the Yamaha B2, now made in Indonesia. The middle pedal function is a practice mode, instead of bass sustain. If you lock the middle pedal into the practice position, it softens the tone and lowers the volume, so you can practice any time of day without disturbing anyone. As with a baby grand, you can raise the top lid fully or partially, if the room acoustics call for more brightness and volume. Includes original bench and owner's manual.
CONDITION: Excellent mechanically and cosmetically. One owner. Minimal internal wear. The tuning pins are still very tight, so it has no problem staying in tune.
RECENT SERVICE: Recently tuned and cleaned, inside and out. More importantly, it has just been fully regulated. Regulation adjustments should be done once every few years, at least, to compensate for normal wear and tear, humidity changes, and the passage of time. Regulation consists of the many adjustments and tweaks needed to keep the playing action smooth and even, and to keep the tone at its best: not too bright, not too muted, and consistent from key to key. Unfortunately, most piano owners eventually let their instrument get out of regulation, due to lack of use, and/or to avoid the extra expense involved in maintaining peak performance. Just like a car, your piano sometimes needs more than just a tune-up.
