Hi, I'm Chris. I'm a lifelong musician and multi-instrumentalist. I have a passion for music and the process of sharing it with others. I'm always interested in hearing from new students.

My goal is to offer lessons that are affordable, fun and enriching. All ages, styles and abilities welcome. I've taught countless beginners all the way to students who have played longer than myself. I teach all levels of guitar, banjo, ukulele, mandolin and bass from beginner to advanced. Whether you've never picked up an instrument before, have played in the past but fallen out of practice or are an experienced devotee, I'm confident I can meet you where you are and add a fun, rewarding spark to your musical journey. Looking to get started on the instrument but not sure where to begin? Do you feel like you've plateaued and could use some help finding your way into new musical territory? Or maybe you're curious for some insights into improvisation, songwriting or furthering your understanding of music theory? Everything is possible.
I am willing to travel to you or host lessons. I ask $40 for an hour lesson if I come to you, $30 if you come to me.
By request, I'd be happy to supply you with references from past students and parents or original music samples. I have experience teaching music to children of all ages, having also worked as a bedside tutor at the Boston Children's Hospital.
If costs are prohibitive, please don't hesitate to contact me anyway as I love teaching music and haven't allowed monetary restraints to prevent an eager and dedicated student from studying with me. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Here are some comments contributed from students who have or still are studying with me:
"Chris's intuitive, supportive teaching style helped me progress from not being able to play a C chord to writing and recording my own music. I always feel like Chris understands where I'm at and what my goals are, and gives me lessons that help me make meaningful progress." - Ryan H., 29 years old
"My guitar lessons with Chris changed my life! When he came over to my house the first day, I knew practically nothing about the guitar, nor was I particularly interested in learning. But quickly, Chris inspired me to pursue music and to devote myself to learning how to play. Along the way, I became a much better player and had the greatest time doing it! Taking guitar lessons with Chris was one of the greatest experiences I've ever had." - Luka B., 12
"Chris is the best guitar teacher I've ever had. He is incredibly patient and encouraging. He introduced me to styles and genres I wouldn't have explored on my own, but also adapted his instruction to my personal musical tastes. He does not take a cookie cutter approach to lessons and that made it feel like we were on a musical journey together. He is an incredibly talented musician and I was lucky to benefit from his instruction. Unfortunately I had to move away and haven't found anyone to equal him since. Highly recommended!" - Kristin S., 27
"Chris is the only guitar teacher I've found able to get important musical concepts and practical playing instruction through my thick skull. I can't imagine how he does it, but he's some kind of guitar magic." - Dan S., 61
"Chris' enthusiasm and calm friendliness really got my son interested in playing guitar. Chris always made it fun, it was never a chore or something Josh felt forced to do, and Josh learned how to play the current songs that were his favorites!" - Cheryle C. for son Josh, 14
"Chris is a natural teacher who caters lessons to his students' interests and ability. He is always well prepared with materials and an impressive breadth of knowledge and experience. Chris is a wonderful guide to have on your adventure to gaining confidence and enjoyment in making music." - Eric A., 37
"Chris teaches guitar in a way that leaves you feeling MORE in love with playing and confident. He took me from 100% beginner state to 100% indepedent. He makes learning guitar accessible and is genuinely joyful with any of your progress. You are very lucky if you find him!" - Deirdre M., 34
