PIANO, GUITAR, ARRANGING AND COMPOSTION: GRAMMY-AWARD WINNER JON CARROLL
At age 18, Jon Carroll was a founding member of Starland Vocal Band, recording the #1 Pop hit “AFTERNOON DELIGHT”. The group went on to be nominated for five Grammy Awards, winning two, one for Best New Artist and one for Best Arrangement for Voices. Vocal arranging was one of Jon’s roles in the group.
Since then, Jon has not slowed down as a performer, composer, arranger, producer, songwriter, and musician. His works have appeared in films, commercials, episodic dramas, and comedies. He is highly sought after studio session performer and has appeared on many recordings. His songs have been covered by artists such as Linda Ronstadt (her 80’s hit “Want Love? Get Closer!”), Tom Jones, and Kenny Rogers. Dan Prindle has performed in over 1000 concerts with his band, Rane. The group has won numerous awards and has opened for such acts as The Allman Brothers Band, The Jerry Garcia Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Wilco, Rusted Root, and Santana. Dan has also performed with the likes of Simon Kirke (of Free, Bad Company, Ringo Starr’s All-Star Band), Kurtis John (of The Last Goodnight), Jennifer Hartswick (of the Trey Anastasio Band), Sean Kelly (of the Samples), and Rex Fowler (of Aztec Two-Step). Killian Karlsson has been a professional educator, session player, and nationally touring musician for the past 8 years. CLARINET: MICHAEL BRIGNOLO
Michael Brignolo is an active clarinetist throughout the Pioneer Valley, teaching students of all levels and performing with various ensembles. He is currently on the music faculty of Mount Holyoke College and Westfield State University. In addition to solo and chamber music, he performs frequently as principal clarinetist with The Valley Winds (winners of the 2016- 2017 American Prize in Wind Band Performance) and is a regular member of the Panopera Orchestra. Christine Mann is a professional cellist and teacher currently completing a Performance Certificate at UMass Amherst. FLUTE, PIANO, UKULELE: JANINE NEPRUD
Janine Neprud is a graduate of UNC Greensboro with a Bachelors of Music degree in Music Education, and is currently working towards her Masters of Music in Flute Performance at UMASS Amherst. Janine has studied flute for 12 years, with additional background in piano and ukulele. She has experience teaching students of all ages. Her performance experience includes performances with the UNCG Symphonic Band, the UNCG Wind Ensemble, and the UMASS Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Janine took part in the Corciano Arts Festival in Corciano, Italy and lead in the creation and performance of a collaborative work for composer, flutist, actor, dancer, and poet during her undergraduate career. VOICE, PIANO, MUSICAL THEATER: DAVID CAVALLIN
David is an accomplished vocalist, pianist and actor and has been involved in the performing arts from a very young age. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, he has entertained audiences in several different countries and brings a unique blend of multicultural experiences into everything he does. Performance credits include: Off-Broadway, Cabaret and Regional Theatre plays and musicals, roles in several independent films, solo piano recitals, experience as lead singer, keyboardist and back-up vocalist for acts in a variety of genres ranging from Blues, Jazz and Soul to Rock, Pop, alternative and Spanish and Latin American folk music. He maintains an active performance schedule in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York City and the greater New England area.
WOODWINDS: CLAIR CANGIALOSI
Clair Cangialosi graduated in the spring of 2017 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelor's degree in music education with a concentration in bassoon. She is an avid bassoonist and contrabassoonist, performing with ensembles in both the Pioneer Valley and the New York City area. Clair is a native of White Plains, New York. Her primary bassoon teachers are Janet Grice and Stephen Walt. She studied conducting with Dr. Matthew Westgate.
VIOLIN, VIOLA, MUSIC THEORY: EMILY SCHWITZGEBEL
Emily Schwitzgebel is a recent graduate of the College of Wooster where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Theory and Composition, and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Music Theory at UMASS Amherst. She serves as a Graduate Assistant for freshman music theory at UMASS, and has tutoring experience with topics related to Orchestration, Counterpoint, Post-Tonal Theory, and Tonal Theory.
PIANO: CHLOE DANITZ
Chloe Danitz is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance and a focus in Piano Pedagogy. She is continuing her studies in music by attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a Masters student studying Historical Musicology. Chloe is an accomplished and versatile pianist, having won several awards for performance while at CMU, including the John N. Irwin Memorial Scholarship.
