We are a small family-run dairy farm in Orange, MA with a busy composting business. We are looking for someone to put compost into bags to sell. It is not a glamorous job, but is is one of the best jobs on the farm because you can work at your own speed in a relaxed, woodsy environment, and there's not much that can go wrong or break. You can work any time during the day, though mornings are best to avoid the heat of the day. The season is slowing down, but we still need someone who can make about 100-150 bags per week.
The repetitive and meditative quality of the task makes this a good job for contemplating your next move.
It is a physically demanding job. You must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly. We will pay fifty cents per bag, with minimum wage guaranteed. Most people can make around 35 bags in an hour.
We may have other odd jobs available if you hang around long enough.
