A 1964 “wrong nose” F 100, with a 223 in-line six, and three-speed column shift. A southern truck, this was purchased five years ago and trucked to New England from Kansas. The original motor (which I discovered was completely shot) was replaced with another 223 which I purchased used from Maine. The truck was actually running and riding down the road for a couple of years, but a problem with the wiring harness sidelined it about two years ago.
Since then, it has spent its life undercover or in my garage, waiting for me to get the wiring problem resolved.
The body is in good condition. Bring your magent! There’s a lot of solid metal to work with! Some rust starting in the bed, and in the floor of the cab, but very, very very little, given the year.
The frame is solid. Except on the 'nose' of the hood, there's no plastic anywhere.
As noted, the nose is the wrong year (‘65). Looking at it, the alignment of the nose does not seem quite correct, but you can judge for yourself.
The paint job is a Macco special by the looks, but does not look bad. The body is not perfect, the chrome is not perfect.
The vehicle comes with a new wiring harness that is started, but not fully installed. It also includes a bolt-on aftermarket towbar, new vinyl floor, and the original generator.
Tires were installed on the truck about four years ago, are the proper bias fly tires for the year, and have seen very little wear.
I’ve replaced the clutch, wheel cylinder, brake pads, belt, and upgraded to electronic ignition (replacement of the points and condenser only).
The original gauge cluster is included with the truck, but has been pulled for the time being.
I’m selling because the truck has sat in the garage for two years, and I’ve not had the time or wherewithal to finish the work it needs, and get it back on the road. Largely, that’s the wiring harness. That being said, someone with the right skillset would likely be able to get this truck back up and running within a few weekends.
The price is firm. Not interested in trades, tire kickers, or "best offers". At this price, I am taking a significant loss on this truck. I also believe that this price is very fair given the condition of the truck and it’s potential to be a great daily driver, parade vehicle, or a great start for your own custom vehicle.
You will need to get this truck towed, or hauled away. It does not run on its own power. I am willing to show the vehicle, but only after email correspondence which proves to me that you’re a real person and have a real interest in it.
