A phrenology head after L. N. Fowler. The pedestal of the bust is marked “Phrenology By L. N. Fowler” and the sides are marked “L. N. Fowler – Ludgate Circus – London” and “Entered at Stationers Hall”. The rear section of the pedestal has a statement from Fowler about his study of “crania”. The bust’s skull is marked into various segments where some people thought characteristics emanated. Lorenzo Fowler had a business in 19th century London making and selling these busts.
Measures about 15" tall, 6.75" wide and 5.5" deep. 8 lbs.
