make / manufacturer: Dressel
model name / number: Maritime Kerosene Lamp
size / dimensions: 24"H x 13"W
Own a piece of American History. For sale is a highly collectable, FULLY RESTORED, New York State Canal System (Erie Canal) Maritime kerosene lamp. These lamps were manufactured by Dressel (Arlington N.J.) for use on the New York State Canal System now known as the Erie Canal. The date of manufacture is somewhere between 1900 and 1940 when production ended. They were still in use until the 1960's. These lamps were hung from bridges or fastened to a buoy as shown in one of the pictures. It has approximately a 1-gallon integral Kerosene tank that burns brightly for weeks between refills, with NO LEAKS. The stainless-steel chimney and screen are in excellent condition as shown. All of the brass parts have been polished to a mirror like finish.

The fuel tank is in excellent condition with NO LEAKS. The lamps' immensely thick clear glass lense has a few minor chips but NO cracks.

I don't know how many were made but the few that are still in existence have sold for $500 to $1250 in various conditions. There is another one now on E-B in fair condition for $700.

This lamp is fully functioning and is 24" tall by13" wide and weighs in at 25 pounds empty. It is in near mint condition considering it's at least 80 years old. It also comes with a new roll of wick. I am also including a battery-operated LED flame looking light if you don't want to burn kerosene.

I will consider any reasonable offer, but please do not waste either of our time with low ball offers. I do not have to sell this beautiful lamp. If it's posted I still have it. Please don't ask.
