My summer sublet living arrangement, ends Sept. 1st. So, I'm looking for a long-term rental arrangement by then. I'm willing to live anywhere in the 5 colleges area, that has access to public transit. I'd prefer a female-only household.

A room that's at least partially furnished, is a must. I'm telecommuting as a remote employee, at my job. So, a desk for me to use a computer and phone from, would be a definite necessity. I'd also need phone and DSL service, connected by the time I'd move-in. My employer will foot the bill, for either my portion of shared phone/DSL service, or new service in my name.

I'm a politically progressive lesbian in my 40s, and a responsible, hard-working marketing professional. I'm also an artist, and I paint, draw, and do cartooning. I'm an intellectual, and I have a congenial, flexible disposition. Some of my other interests are; books, meteorology, astrology, astronomy, and listening to good music.

I'm clean (but not obsessively so). I need a non-smoking household. I can't live in a household with a dog(s) (I'm allergic to their hair). Cats are okay though. I'm respectful of others space in a living situation, and can easily make adjustments regarding others needs/preferences in a household.

I am responsible, clean, quiet, but also social and I enjoy having people around. I can cook fairly well, and enjoy having communal meals. I studied Theater and Literature in college, and am taking Education and English courses at UMass now in the hopes of some day being a high school English teacher. I work in Amherst Center at a book store.

I come with the possibility of some furniture:

Both a queen and a full sized bed (I generally sleep in the full sized bed).
A black leather sectional sofa
A grill
bookshelves, end tables, lamps. . .
I also own pots, pans, dishes, knives, brita filter, dvd collection, baking pans, etc. Good quality stuff for good quality food.
I also have a new vacuum cleaner.

At the moment I have a car, but that may change, so I prefer to be on a bus route.

This semester, I am going to be taking classes, so clearly I will be needing to be studious the majority of the time. I do, however, enjoy dinner parties and get-togethers with friends. Think wine and cheese as opposed to kegs and vandalism.

Here's the kicker: I have this cat. She's a GREAT cat. She's not the type to wake you up at 4:00 am, but she will sleep at your feet and greet you with a cuddle when you wake up in the morning. I feed her and clean her box. I also have a vet in the area. She is an indoor/outdoor cat, but I prefer keeping her indoors during the night. I have been a great cat mom for a long time. The question is finding a place where I can keep her.. .

So, I am open to finding a room in a house with many people. If you are someone who is looking to get a group of people together to rent a place, that would be fantastic as well. I keep seeing these amazing apartments or houses with four, five or six bedrooms, but I am not sure I know that many people who are moving right now. I have a few friends in the area who might be interested in living together if we found the right place.

I would prefer to live in or near Amherst, but would also be thrilled to live in Northampton Center, as that is where most of my friends live. Hadley is fine. Sunderland is fine. I also prefer not to live in a complex if I can help it, although Sugarloaf seems like it might be fine. I am also hoping for a place with good sunshine.

I recently returned to the USA from Argentina and it's finally time for me to settle down for a while, preferably close by to family and friends in the Massechusetts. I'm in my mid-twenties and about to begin studying computer science at umass. I have many interests, am pretty social but also laid back, respectful and mature. I love Russian literature, 60's and 70's rock n' roll and Robert Altman movies. I've been living in New York for the past two years with one roommate and before that I lived in Baltimore with two male roommates, all of whom became really great friends. Before you're too quick to judge! I've sifted through countless ads (which is why I created this ad) asking for FEMALE-ONLY houses/rooms. While I fully understand your reasoning behind this, I beg you to read further and perhaps open up my options a little bit.
